Vision is “an ideal that represents or reflects the shared values to which the organisation should aspire”.

Vision for the “Indian Tourister” is “A high quality bag at the reach of a common man”.

Everyone deserves best resources. Since quality never comes cheap, we at Indian Tourister are innovating different ways to make it an affordable for common man.

It fits in all four characteristics of Vision Statements :

  1. Possibility – we are devising ways to make it a reality.

  2. Desirability – It matches with the norms and values.

  3. Actionability – The vision is relevant to even the manufacturers and also the

    customers.

  4. Articulation – the vision is vivid and pushes people to achieve it and clearly it

    is evident if we have achieved our vision or not.

Mission means the essential purpose of the organization, why it is in existence and the nature of the business it is in and customers it seeks to serve and satisfy.
It is also the purpose or reason.

Indian Tourister’s Mission is “To become a major player in the global baggage industry and to showcase prowess of Indian Craftsmen at Global level”.

It matches the characteristics of a mission statement as

  1. It is not lengthy

  2. Clearly articulated the purposes why it exists.

  3. It is broad yet specific that it wants to work in baggage industry.

  4. Inspiring because it wants to bring Indian skills to global level.

  5. Feeling and emotions are attached as indigenous products would be

    showcased to global audience.

Goals of the organization are :

  1. Goals of the organization are what it is trying to accomplish, both organizationally and programmatically.

  2. Goals are collection of related programs, a reflection of major action so the organization which provides points for the managers.

Goals of “Indian Tourister” are:

Indian Tourister has the goal of growing at the rate of 20% month on month. For that it will have strategic partnerships with the showrooms who will display the product which is known as product placements. While they will be taking a premium for doing so, Indian Tourister will grow as a brand.

Also, the e-commerce partnerships with PayTm, Amazon will help us spread the brand on Internet and therefore the Indian Tourister brand will spread both Online as well as Offline.

Objectives:
Objectives are precise, time-based, measurable actions that leads to completion of a goal.
Objectives should be:

  1. Related directly to the goal

  2. Clear, Concise and understandable

  3. Be stated in terms of results

  4. Begin with an action verb

  5. Be measurable

Objectives of the Indian Tourister are:

  1. Open 2 new independent showrooms every 15 days

  2. Partner with 5 new showrooms every week.

  3. Hire 20 Sales Managers for Delhi

  4. Achieve 20,000 units sale by Dec’17

  5. Manufacture 1000 units every week

Plans – Planning helps an organization chart a course for the achievement of its goals.
Review is done of current operations of the organization and identifying what needs to be improved operationally.

Also it envisions what needs to be achieved by the organization. What are the steps necessary to arrive at the desired destination – success.

Planning in “Indian Tourister”

Efficient Use of Resources – We will utilize all the resources which are critical for the organization and they will act like asset for us as resources are limited in nature. Resources which will increase the productivity will be preferred.

Establishing Goals – Employees will be continuously challenged to strive for better performance. Goals will be realistic for boosting the morale. No one will be satisfied with current state.

Managing Risk and Uncertainty –

Risk will be managed and won’t be allowed to increase. Insurance will be done of the organization to prevent any unforeseen circumstances. All contingencies planning will be done so that uncertainties can be handled efficiently.

Team Building – Planning fosters the team building and a spirit of cooperation. Plans will be completed and shared with organization so that everyone knows responsibilities of themselves and each other. They will see how their contributions is impacting the organization at large.
